Born in Punjab, India, Gurpal Singh completed his tertiary education at Panjab University, Chandigarh, India. Gurpal graduated with a Bachelor of Economics and Political Science (1989) and a Bachelor of Laws (1992) before stepping into his role as an Advocate (barrister and solicitor) at the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Chandigarh and the Supreme Court of India, New Delhi (1992).
Gurpal expanded the scope of his professional practice to include the area(s) of constitutional law, commercial and corporate law, family law, criminal law, private international law, and writ jurisdiction. Gurpal extensively advised small to mid-tier companies and high-net-worth individuals in the area(s) of due diligence, advocacy, and complex corporate litigation. Gurpal has also handled commercial transactions of significant value in Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia, and Canada.
From 2007 to mid-2012, Gurpal taught commercial law to undergraduate students at La Trobe University. Gurpal also tutored and lectured on company and finance law to post-graduate accounting students at La Trobe University between 2009 and 2012.
In 2010, Gurpal established Saundh, Singh & Smith Lawyers at Coburg and the Melbourne CBD. Gurpal advises clients on a wide range of complex legal matters with clarity, passion, and precision, and provides each client with the necessary support to manage their file from initial consultation, litigation, and to final resolution.

Gurpal is married and lives with his wife and son. Gurpal is also a pet-parent who shares a great emotional bond with Golu, a German Spitz.
